To celebrate Volunteers’ Week we’d like you to meet some of the dedicated people that help to make the Broomwood Community and Wellbeing Centre a great place to have fun, meet new people, improve your wellbeing, be creative and get active.
Lee – Wellbeing Volunteer
Lee is one of our wellbeing volunteers, working 1-2-1 with individuals, supporting them to get active, solve problems, have fun and feel better.
Lee says “I became a Blue Sci volunteer soon after attending as a service user. The staff and other volunteers at the centre were so helpful and welcoming, I found it very easy to fit in as part of the team and now enjoy getting involved with the running of groups and helping people who visit the centre with lots of different tasks and activities. Something different happens every day at the centre so no two days are the same. Helping others gives me a lot of satisfaction and a great sense of wellbeing. “
Annette – Reception
Annette is one of our friendly and enthusiastic volunteer receptionists, here to greet visitors to the centre with a warm welcome.
She says “it gets me out and about meeting new and interesting people I get a sense of satisfaction to feel I am contributing to the local community”.
Jackie – Volunteer Administrator
Jackie is one of our volunteer administrators, helping to make sure things run smoothly and keeping the outreach library well-stocked.
Jackie says ” it is a great way to meet new people and learn new skills. It has increased my understanding of what people go through in their lives and it is a great feeling when you can help someone who might be struggling.”
